Composition of our cages

The classic cages are equipped with a hay rack, a hopper open on top for easy filling and a two-liter anti-bite drinker per compartment.

The cages with maternity, have the same equipment as the classic cages plus a removable shelter located at the back of each compartment serving as a birth nest.

All our cages are equipped with defecation drawers underneath, allowing for quick and effective cleaning of each compartment.

Each individual cage is equipped with an opening part on the top for easy access when picking up the rabbit.

The cage for the male is octagonal and reinforced, it is equipped with an anti-bite drinker, a galvanized hopper, and a forage rack.

Why use breeding cages?

The rabbit is an animal requiring a lot of monitoring and care, moreover in limited space, it can quickly become aggressive towards other rabbits. A female can very well kill the young of another doe. It is therefore essential to use well-designed cages that will allow rabbits to grow and reproduce in good conditions.

Several important spaces must make up a good cage:

The feeding and watering space:
The movable birthing and nursing space for easy cleaning;
An access hatch per compartment sufficiently wide and preferably on the top;
A resting space;
A defecation space;
A cleaning drawer for perfect hygiene.
A mesh of at least 2.5 mm in diameter to prevent rabbits from injuring their paws.
Sufficient space, allowing for 0.3 m² without counting the nesting box (50 x 60 cm).

The male's cage

The male's cage also serves as a mating cage, so it must be equipped with a trap door large enough to facilitate access from above when moving the females.

Its dimensions can be slightly smaller than the mothers' cages. Our octagonal cage has two advantages, the first being to allow the male easier movements inside and the second compared to a round cage is to leave corners so that during mating the female avoids constantly turning, unnecessarily tiring both companions.
