Main Uses

Candling allows, among other things, to know if your eggs are well fertilized.

Generally used a third of the way through incubation, it allows you to see whether or not there is fertilization by the star-shaped veins connected to a small dot.

 Over the days, this small dot will start moving; it is the heart of the embryo.

If the egg remains clear without the appearance of small veins, it is not fertilized.

It's best to avoid candling too early because the egg is sensitive to temperature, and taking them out often, especially in the first few days, would affect the development of the chicks. Furthermore, before around the seventh day, the embryo will not be very developed, and it will be difficult for you to see anything.

Candle them a second time on the fourteenth day and then leave them alone.

The egg candler also allows you

•          To check the condition of the shell to see if there are any small cracks or fractures.
•          To monitor the air proportion inside the egg, this proportion allows you to adjust the hygrometer rate of your incubator, essential for a successful incubation.
•          To follow the development stage of the egg.

Operation

Place yourself in a dark area near the incubator, choose an egg from the incubator, and hold it above the light source, placing the broader base where the air pocket is on the light.

Analyze the interior of your egg.

Avoid removing them from the incubator for more than 20 minutes.
