Why use a transformer for your heated drinkers?

Suévia transformers are essential for keeping the water in drinkers at a suitable temperature in winter, thus preventing freezing. They offer:

Principles of operation and placement

• Energy conversion: The transformer converts the 230 Volts mains current to 24 Volts AC, compatible with Suévia heated drinkers.
• Strategic placement: Install the transformer near the drinkers while ensuring it is positioned out of the reach of animals. To improve protection (IP54), it is recommended to remove the plug and connect the cable directly to the electrical panel.
• Parallel connection: The drinkers are connected in parallel to a junction box for simplified troubleshooting.

Choosing the transformer based on your needs

The choice of transformer depends on the total power of the connected drinkers. The transformer's power must be greater than or equal to the sum of the powers of the heated drinkers. Here are the available options:

100 Watts Transformer

• Ideal for one or two low-power heated drinkers (e.g., heating cables from 20 to 50 Watts).
• Recommended for small installations with reduced energy consumption.

200 Watts Transformer

• Suitable for two to four heated drinkers, totaling up to 200 Watts.
• Perfectly suited for medium-sized operations requiring reliable power supply in winter.

400 Watts Transformer

• Capacity for four to eight heated drinkers, depending on their individual power.
• Perfect for large operations or when multiple drinkers need to be connected on the same line.

Example of installation with a 400 Watts transformer:

• Version 1: 4 drinkers of 80 Watts + 4 heating cables of 20 Watts.
• Version 2: 5 drinkers of 80 Watts.
• Version 3: 2 drinkers of 180 Watts.

Additional recommendations

• Never overload a transformer. For example, do not attempt to connect 440 Watts to a 400 Watts transformer.
• A room thermostat (ref. 101.0389) can be added for automatic management of the transformers' start and stop, thus improving energy efficiency.
• The combination of multiple transformers on the same line is prohibited for safety reasons.
